Via the Spay/Neuter Coalition:
How does spay and neuter have such a HUGE impact? Today we met a family that simply did not spay their female dog in time (due to lack of education about how easily and early she could become pregnant, as well as low cost options available to make it affordable to her). Her female dog had ELEVEN unwanted puppies. One life is quickly TWELVE lives... and this is from ONE animal. These puppies were "given away" before spaying and neutering and they will now continue the cycle as well. This is exactly why our surplus of homeless animals is out of control. PREVENTION has the biggest impact, by a landslide, before there are more unwanted lives brought into our world. Outreach, education and assistance are crucial to save the most lives.
