So last night I thought I'd start taking Chupa outside to see if I could get her to potty there. She stood right between my feet the whole time. Well, until she went back to the door. Tried again this morning and she does the same. If I try to walk with her I end up kicking her because she stays so close. When I stand still she begs to be picked up. Pitifully begs, might I add. 🙁
I think she's afraid I'm gonna take her out and leave her. I am betting that is what happened to her. Not necessarily dumped out (though that's entirely possible), but she's young and small and could have wandered off looking for a person. I don't think any pet should be left outside to fend for itself, but she is so super tiny. At least a larger dog is easier to see by drivers and could scare something else away from food to eat it. 😐
Anyway. So she's not comfortable enough to potty outside yet. We will keep trying. Maybe once she realizes that she always gets to come back in with me that will ease her mind.
She seems pretty relaxed indoors. She'll follow me around, but doesn't necessarily have to be right up on me. I don't know what it is about my boy cat Balthazar, but she REALLY seems to like him. She's fine with the other cats and the dog of mine that she's met. That is all pretty good. I like it when we get along. 🙂
