Not only did I get very little sleep due to taking care of a kitten that died despite my efforts, but now I'm late to work thanks to Nappy's FORMER groomer.

I'm gonna keep it classy and not call this business out publicly (you can message me if you need to know who it is), but over the last few months they have upset me repeatedly.  I will admit to having to re-schedule a bath or two due to finances.  With our hours cut short at work it's been hard to afford to get a dog her size bathed and brushed out every month.  But, I was being diligent about bringing her in.  And for the record, for the amount of work it is, no, I really don't want to do it myself.  It would take me a whole day.

There were a couple of times that I had her scheduled and then I got her to the groomer and they said that they didn't have an appointment for her.  Or I would call to confirm an appointment the day before, but they didn't have her on the schedule.  One time they slipped her in anyway, but that's it.

So I made her an appointment to have her hair cut.  She's beyond anything a bath could help at this point, but it's summer, so at least if she's shaved maybe she'll stay a little cooler and I can wash her myself for a few months.  The groomer called to remind me that she needed an updated rabies record, so I took her Saturday to get that done.  When I took her in today I had the record with me.  But that wasn't enough.  She needed a bordatella, distempter, and parvo vaccination suddenly.

Yes, they turned us away and I had to drive my dog back home.  They said they are sure they told me that she needed ALL of those vaccinations; however, I have a voicemail saying "vaccinations" - not listing anything specific and when the girl called me on Saturday to confirm I'm sure she said "rabies" - otherwise, I would have been really pissed that I'd driven to Piedmont and didn't even get everything she needed.  It may well just be a misunderstanding, but I'm calling bullshit after months of this crap.  I guess that means this particular salon is done having my business because I sure as hell won't be back.

So now I'm late for work and my dog is dirty until Wednesday, which is the first day I could get someone else I trust to shave her.  I know that I just made myself a few minutes later because I'm ill and bitching on the Internet, but if I don't vent I might unleash my fury at work today and that wouldn't be any good.

Anyway.  I guess I'm gonna leave and try to get on with my day.  Hopefully nothing else not so great happens.  I have a headache due to lack of sleep and I'm not really in the mood to deal with people.  It would be a great day to sit at home in my pj's with Shadow.  Unfortunately, I don't have that luxury.

Orange passed away sometime between my last update and now.  He was so fussy. I had a feeling that something wasn't ok.  Poor boy.  I tried.  ❤

Orange is whining. He woke me up.

Orange is whining.  He woke me up.  He was laying in a wet spot.  Seems to be leaking urine.  That is probably not good.  🙁

Still not eating well.  But fussy and not lethargic.  I have no idea what to do for him right now.  No vet is open this early.  🙁

Orange is driving me crazy.  He's warmed, but not really eating.  He's more into the Pedialyte than milk.  He's barely eaten, and I've had him since 4, so he should be hungry.  He gets fussy when I pick him up, and he falls asleep really easily.  If I pinch him, his skin goes back right away, so I don't think he's dehydrated.  If he can make it through the night, he'll see a doctor.  I'm hoping he hangs on, but I'm starting think he may not.  🙁

I found a random maggot... it was not on him, but on his paper towel.  I have searched his whole body and see no other place it could come from besides his wound, which looks pretty well closed up.  I am not sure what to think at the moment.  🙁

Orange is resting and warming up.  STILL.  Because I just found out that my handy-dandy heating pad that doesn't shut off (one of the OLD SCHOOL kinds) isn't warming.  Made a rice mama for him to cuddle.  He's in there fussing.  I'm gonna see if he's warm enough to eat.  🙂

I just got 7 maggots out of Orange's genital area.  We are both soaking wet with saline, but we made progress.  I used a saline flush, tweezers and cottons swabs to get the maggots once they started coming out.  They weren't just rinsing off - once they came out, it looked at though they were looking for another entrance to go in.  Blegh.  🙁

He's currently resting and drying off, and I'm sitting here shaking, feeling so grossed out and worried.  What an evening.

On the bright side he seems to be a little fighter.  I know that couldn't have felt good, and he wasn't afraid to let me know it.  I hope that's a good sign.  I'm gonna Google kitten care real quick while he rests, and hope he will eat for me.  He wasn't that into it earlier, but maybe he worked up an appetite while fighting me.  ❤

Can anyone tell what is going on with this kitten's business? And how can I help him? I don't mind bringing him to see a vet in the morning, but is there anything I can do tonight? I have no idea what happened here. I did pull a bunch of larvae egg looking things off him, and my dad said he had ants on him when they found him. 🙁
