When we saw Dr. Atlas today...

When we saw Dr. Atlas today he saw my shell and asked me what it was.  After I told him that it was my backpack, he said "Wait here.  I have something to show you."  And he came back with this bowl full of turtle hatchlings.  😃  There is one on the left who's still trying to make his way out, and a few that haven't started to hatch yet.  He said it could take days.  Oh my gosh - it was the coolest thing.  😃  I didn't know this, but the babies have this placenta thing on the bottom of their shells that supply their nutrients for a while.  One of them fell over on his back and I saw it.  It was like, pulsating and stuff.  SO NEAT!

Dr. Atlas says he does this every year.  He also patches up turtles that have been hit by cars.  I love a man with a good heart.  Today was nice.  I know this sounds weird, but I love going there.  If I lived closer I'd totally help him with his fosters.  🙂

Teyla's doing well - just needs to continue to get her wrappings checked out every weekend and she'll have another x-ray on the 4th week.  Her appetite is slowly but surely increasing, so I'm pleased with that.  She seemed happy to be going and hanging out, but was kind of fussy for the changing of the wrap.  Bad girl!  LOL
