Tfw you're trying to get stuff done, but your normally chill reptiles JUST WON'T CHILL. They were acting up so I let them out. Oddly, Nom, (the larger tortoise who's usually causing a ruckus), is relaxing in his humid hide for once.

And yes, they both desperately need a bath. It's on my to-do list.

We just revamped...

We just revamped our bearded dragon Teyla's house and I moved some stuff around and ended up putting some bricks on the floor temporarily. Nom tortoise is clucking at this small pile of bricks and mounting it. 😂😂😂 Dude. We always know when it's spring in my house. 🤦🏻‍♂️

A sentence I never thought I would say:

Teal'c was diagnosed as "failure to thrive" by the vet. I hand-fed him slurries and tried everything to get that baby to grow. He just couldn't.

Midna was the sweetest thing. She was friends with everyone who lived with us. She was our puppy-cat. She chose us one morning around 2 am and it didn't take long for us to choose her back and make her an official part of the family.

We have lost a lot over the years. I guess that is life when the family you choose has shorter life spans than you. But we've also loved a lot. Thankfully, the pain of losing them fades and we get to keep memories like this that make our hearts swell. 💗

I figured out what Nom and Teyla were meeting about yesterday.

Went to feed the animals. Found Nom and Teyla (tortoise and bearded dragon) chilling together. Nom bulldozed a hole in Teyla's enclosure and set her free. I, uh... don't even know what I'm going to do about that. It's the animal room so it should be safe for them. Maybe it's ok? I'm glad I'm not in school yet so that I can observe. 😂 Goofy kids. I love my babies. 😍

I'll get a photo soon. Not until I clean, though. Nom has been rampaging. 😂😂😂 Gotta love life with a tortoise.

My first weekend without homework or studying to do!  I have big plans.  I'm gonna wash all the creatures!  😛

Well, not all of them.  I don't think I'd survive washing 10 cats in a row.  Not even with Shaun's help.  LOL  But the dogs need it bad and I think the reptiles would appreciate it before they brumate.  They are all still awake so far, but it is getting pretty cold.

I'm sure that Tort Baby and Nom just need it even though they don't usually sleep.  So far, they just get lazy when it's cold.  I can relate.  😃  I've gotta get Nom a new water set-up this weekend, too.  The pan he was using has a small hole in it.  Maybe it wouldn't if he didn't flip it daily and throw it all over the place, but he likes to re-decorate often.  😉

We've even gotta change Anansi's bedding.  She was webbing up the place yesterday, but if she doesn't look like she's about to molt by the time we get ready to do it we'll just go ahead.  We might need to consider re-decorating her house, too, because she's getting so big.  I don't think she can even fit in her skull anymore!

Aside from that, NAILS.  I've gotten so many pretty polishes that I haven't had time to use.  I've discovered some brands that are blowing my mind.  I really need to make time to fill you in.  I think I have 3 weeks of no school.  Looks like I might be working a lot, but that is usually less stressful.  Maybe I will be able to clear my head enough to slow down and enjoy myself.

Anyway, like I said - BIG PLANS.  😃  Taking care of the ani-pals is a labor of love, though, and I've missed it.  ❤

I didn't even make it to work until 5, and I worked for about 2 hours. I felt like crap, woke up late, got my period early, and my lizard had diarrhea.

I tried to find a doctor to see because clearly something is going wrong inside me, was on hold with Medicaid for about 30 minutes, and then the woman who spoke to me was a total bitch and hell-bent on misunderstanding me, going so far as to speak about my pregnancy (I'm not pregnant and never said that word once). I just wanted to know what doctors accept Medicaid so that I can get a yearly vagina checkup. She FINALLY gave me the names and numbers of 3 and said that she would mail a list of the rest. 

I went to Munford for the evening after work because the guys had dinner plans and I just wasn't that people-y; however, I did not want to be alone. It was nice hanging with the fam for a bit.

Haven't been home long. The house smells a lot better, so I guess it's about dried out - thank goodness. Now the dehumidifier is in the garage because it got flooded, too. I keep looking for Scooter and that's really damn sad.

Now what? I'm sitting here feeling grumpy and tired and I don't know what will make me feel better. I don't want to do anything or be around anyone. It's no good. Maybe I'll shower soon and try to relax.

I made a 94 on my History test...

I made a 94 on my History test so apparently I'm not a complete failure all the time.  It is still possible on some level for me to make a good grade.  Yay, I guess?

It's officially spring break for me.  I still have to work, but no classes or tutoring for a week - although I do have some Trig graphs and homework to do.  But not today!  😃  Woohoo!

I woke up late.  My phone was dead... meaning I got no alarms to wake up, so I slept until about halfway through the history class I was supposed to be attending.  Since I'm one of those weird people who actually like learning shit I was pretty bummed about missing it.  Mr. Hamilton said he was gonna show us some photos of cliff-dwelling Native Americans and that sounded really cool.  And I freaking missed it.  🙁

So I got up and started trying to make my usual rounds, but I had a pounding headache and felt nauseated.  I've felt slightly sinus-y the past few days.  I really hope I'm not trying to get full-blown sick.  Anyway, I was trying to do things and get ready for work, but was moving like a slug getting anything done.

Then I found my beautiful, spunky Pomona dead... and I just lost all motivation for a while.  🙁

Finally dragged my ass to work, WAYYY late, but I got there.  My head had faded to a dull ache by that point, which was better, but not great.  And I spent the rest of the day trying to work despite that feeling.  Stayed kind of late to wrap up some stuff, and now I'm home.

I really wanted to go over the Algebra test review, but I don't think I feel good enough to bother.  Blegh.

I think I'm headed to the couch.  It's a "sit on the couch with some blankets" kind of night.  Maybe there will be something on Netflix or Hulu that me and Shadow can chill out and watch.  Later, peeps.  So glad it's almost the weekend.

Lost my girl sometime overnight.  She'd started looking puny.  I was hoping to take her to Riverview this weekend, but she didn't make it.  She was older, so it's entirely possible it was just her time.  Still, I'm super sad today.  But we had a lot of fun.  I will especially miss our games of "Hide and Sleep."  ❤❤❤

Whitey, our last gerbil, died on 09/26.

Whitey, our last gerbil, died on 09/26.  Thankfully, I think it was old age because unfortunately, rodents just don't have long life spans.  Whatever it was - she declined fast and died in Shaun's hands.

Now my feisty dragon, Pomona, looks like she's losing weight.  She's getting a geriatric sort of wobble.  🙁  She was a rescue so I have no idea how well she was cared for before Laurel took her in, but she's had proper care since 2011.  I don't think there is much to be done for her, so I'm pretty bummed out.

Last night I was talking to Midna and noticed that one of her eyes is swollen.  I tried to check on her this morning, but she was hiding and I couldn't get to her.  She was out today and while it looks better I'm planning to investigate more thoroughly when Shaun gets here.  If she needs to see a doctor, of course, she will.

And finally, I'm concerned about Tobi, the orange foster kitten.  I found out that he's what's called a "rumpy" - which is a bobtail cat with not even a stump of a tail.  Unfortunately, that often comes with nerve issues and other things like that.  He's been having potty issues... so a Google search led me to learn about Manx Syndrome (damaged spinal cord and nerves, causing a form of spina bifida, as well as problems with the bowels, bladder, and digestion) and megacolon (which comes with the aforementioned bowel problems and can be fatal).

Poor buddy will go in the box and scratch, then squat... and then nothing happens.  He'll cover that nothing and go about his business, but then a few minutes later I'm picking a turd off his butt with a tissue.  Thankfully, he doesn't seem constipated - just maybe like he can't push the poo out very well.

I am honestly not sure if this is the kind of thing that gets better or worse with age, but I'm all Googled out.  He seems ok right now, so depending on how Midna is doing he might see a vet in the morning, or he might see one later.  In any case I'm keeping a close eye on him.  He was the first to get sick with upper respiratory crud, and the last to get over it (even on antibiotics).  So I'm just hoping that he's ok and that everything works out.

On a related note it looks like some people keep Manx Syndrome babies and just diaper them.  I'm hoping it wouldn't come to that for Tobi, but hey, a pamper isn't the end of the world.  🙂

Poor Harley. He learned today that even true love doesn't make it ok for you to come between your woman and her food. ESPECIALLY if she's in shed. He got his toe bitten by a very hangry Teyla.

Feeling slightly crappy today, but...

Feeling slightly crappy today, but I've got studying to do so I'm hitting the books.  Nom and Mona are out and about today.  Mona is enjoying a sunbeam on the floor and Nom is banging into stuff and undoubtedly trying to eat something inedible.  😂  Nom didn't ask to come out, but he may not know that is an option now so I put him in the floor since he was awake.  Tort Baby went right back to sleep after I got that video of him yawning.  He just wasn't ready to get up - little lazy bum.  Not really, but he does seem to be more of a night owl.  That's how he gets to sleep on the couch so often.  😂  He's a smart one.

Anyway.  I hope everyone has a lovely day.  It's so hard to be motivated to do schoolwork when the weather is so nice, but finals are coming up.  I've gotta get my brain ready.

Found the leezard child.  Her hiding skills are rusty.  She was just sleeping in a corner under a table.  EASY.  I must get her out more often.

On that note - everyone is tucked in and I'm heading to bed.  I didn't sleep well last night so I hope I sleep like a rock tonight.  Or at least like a cold lizard in a corner.  😂😂😂
