I did these over this past weekend...

I did these over this past weekend and they aren't very decorated, but I like how the color-flips came out. UNFORTUNATELY, I didn't write down which chrome powders I used to get these colors so I have no idea how to get exactly these results again. I'm especially fond of the green and pink ones, so that sucks.

Maybe after I finish swatching my polish I can make a "cheat sheet" with my gels, the silver magnetic polish, and various chrome powders to get an idea of how they'll look all together. That sounds... difficult. And like I'd waste up a lot of gel. 😬 Maybe I'd better start writing my good combos down as I go.

I tested out using gel polish to make stones for jewelry.

I tested out using gel polish to make stones for jewelry. I'd say it worked. 😁

The stone on the left is just the holographic chrome powder Lust by JReine over black. I definitely need to make sure my sticky coat goes down smooth. You can see some brush strokes in that one. It was the first one I made so the second one came out smoother.

The stone on the right was made using the same method as my dandelion nails, except that I didn't put the dandelions on it because it was just an experiment. It turned out so well that I kind of wish I had, but I'll know better next time.

Now that I know this works I will probably make some jewelry using these methods. I'm excited to have more to paint than just my nails. 😂 I am slowly but surely working towards re-opening my Etsy and I'm really excited about that. I definitely need a creative outlet in my life.

Marry Me Blu

I've been trying for almost 2 weeks to get good pictures / videos of my proposal polishes.  I have been failing, but I did finally get a wheel to swatch them on and since Shaun has a better camera and bigger hands for wheel-spinning I tasked him with making the video.  This is how the polishes look in outdoor lighting.  I'm going to try to get one more of them this week in indoor lighting because they are beautiful both ways.

Shaun worked with Lindsey, the magic-maker behind Tonic Nail Polish to come up with this.  His goal was to make a custom color for me that was a brown / olive green shifter.  "Marry Me Blu" was THE ONE, but the other prototypes turned out so beautiful that he asked to name them and buy them as a collection so that is what this is.

So without further delay - here is the Delta X Collection, given to me on 3.14.  The names of the polishes are math puns since I really dig math (despite my struggles this semester).

1:  Marry Me Blu

2:  Trapezoidal Pool (Trapezoidal Rule)

3:  Convergent Seabreeze (Convergent Series)

4:  Functional Ambivalence (Functional Equivalence)

5:  Divinely Integral (Definite Integral)

6:  No Name (free prototype)

7:  Partial to Derivatives (Partial Derivative)

8:  Tangent Pine (Tangent Line)

9:  Differential Elation (Differential Equation)

I really need to break out of my chicken shell...

I really need to break out of my chicken shell and post a video of these because a still photo just doesn't do them justice. Also, they are much easier to do than you might expect. 😃

I used a base of black polish, then this new magnetic Masura that I got. I know that magnetic polish was kind of a fad a few years ago, but these just have something about them. The magnet that this brand puts out is also CRAZY strong.

So... you can apply the polish and hold the magnet over it until it dries for a more crisp line.  I didn't want to do that because I wanted a more organic look, so I pulled them with the magnet, then top-coated them and watched as the line kind of bled out a little.  They looked super cool on their own, but you know I can't just stop there.  LOL  So I stamped this pattern on top.  I tried to angle it to match the wave of the lines in the magnetic polish so it would all look flow-y.

Anyway.  I'll post a link if I do get around to making a short video.  It will probably show up on my Instagram if I do.  😉
