I had a nice weekend of doing nothing and seeing no one...

I had a nice weekend of doing nothing and seeing no one - only to have a totally crappy night last night.  Which sucked because I had to work this morning.  😕

I was so nauseated that I couldn't sleep.  I was awake until 5-something this morning.  I was definitely awake for Shadow's alarm clock.  This was not so great because I got up early yesterday morning just so I could go to sleep early last night and then get up early for work today.  Needless to say - this is the kind of crap that happens when I plan anything, ever.  That's why I usually don't.

So I had a rough day of feeling so extremely tired, and un-concentrate-y, and grumptacular.  Woo.  I got home and thought that I should REALLY cut my grass, but I felt so crappy, but I hate cutting grass, but then I thought "Why not?  Why waste a day when I feel good doing something I don't want to?"  So, I cut most of my grass.  It got dark on me so I couldn't finish, but it's better than it was.

Now I'm all showered and relaxed.  I'm about to go work on some jewelry until I crash out.  I actually feel ok now - just hoping that I don't end up with some surprise nausea later.  Generally speaking I feel almost normal again most of the time, but the days I don't - I REALLY don't.  It's so weird, but the bad days are fewer and farther between every time, so I'll take it.

Later, peeps.  🙂

Ok, it's confession time:

Ok, it's confession time:

I was COMPLETELY USELESS over the weekend.  I didn't do a thing.  I moved off the couch only to feed the animals, make food, and use the bathroom.  I guess I took an impromptu staycation.  But I have no regrets - I feel quite relaxed.  🙂

I guess that means I've gotta use this Monday off to cut grass and finish re-arranging the stuff I started working on last week.  😂

Also, my tracking numbers indicate that I should have a buttload of my jewelry supplies arriving today so to anyone I've promised polish jewelry to - I will get it done this week.  Everything was on backorder, but it still got here a week earlier than I thought it would so that's awesome.  😃

If you have animals you might want to read this.

If you have animals you might want to read this. Maybe it could save you some money.

I don't think it's any big secret that I have been battling fleas on my cats for MONTHS. I feel like I have mutant fleas because they haven't responded to FrontLine, Advantage, Advantix, Revolution, or even Comfortis. I have read good things about the new flea collar Seresto and I REALLY want to try it, but it's out of my price range right now. 🙁

I was searching the Internet this past weekend for something that I could afford and I found the meds below on Amazon. It is basically a generic form of Capstar (immediate flea killer for like, 24 hours) and Program (month long flea birth control). I have used Program in the past with good results and Capstar usually works, but only temporarily. So for the price I went ahead and ordered it. I got 15 pills (which will treat my 6 cats for 2 months - with pills left over) for $36.

I got them in the mail yesterday and gave the cats the meds today. It's been a few hours and there have been no side effects other than extreme itching as the fleas die off.  I had to move one of my cats to get to something earlier and where he was laying there were about 10 dead / dying fleas. So I know the Capstar part of the drug works.

Though most of the reviews were positive I read some saying that there were more fleas shortly after the meds were given and that makes sense to me. The Program drug should stop the life cycle of the flea, but that doesn't happen immediately. The Capstar portion of the drug kills the fleas that are on your pet within 24 hours, but there are always more in the environment. Obviously you should clean a lot to get all of the fleas / flea eggs you can, but I'm sure I bring them in anyway because there are so many stray animals in my neighborhood. 🙁 If they don't come in on an animal I'm sure they hitch a ride on me.

As odd as it might sound I don't often have issues with fleas on my dogs - and they are the ones who go outside, but my cats don't. I keep my dog room powdered with Diatomaceous Earth so that's probably why. I don't like powdering the animals themselves, though, and I don't like having DE all over my living room and Shadow's room. You aren't supposed to breathe it and the cats sleep with Shadow so I was saving that as an absolute last resort.

Anyway, I guess I can't say for sure this stuff works until I've had my cats on it for a few months, but if you're having flea issues this might be worth a shot - especially for the price. I think they also have larger doses for dogs. If you get this make sure to follow the instruction to give it with a fatty meal. It sounded critical to have the meds properly absorb.

Well Sugar Bear has surprised me this evening.

Well Sugar Bear has surprised me this evening.  She is bouncing around chasing her tail and play bowing to my dogs.  I think she's starting to relax!  🙂

Storms today?

Storms today?  Before I go to work I think I'm gonna crate Nappy and Thundershirt Sugar.  Those two big old babies are weenies.

So tired and heading to bed, but...

So tired and heading to bed, but I wanted to post Sugar's vet results before I forget.

Yesterday (Monday) was her vet appointment.  They think she is about 3 years old.  Heartworm negative, much to my surprise.  Her fecal was also negative despite the many fleas she had on her.  They gave her a pill for fleas and ticks and she'll start her heartworm prevention next week.  She got her first shots and they also trimmed her back end for me so now she doesn't have gross matts hanging off her butt.

Today (Tuesday) was a rough day for Sugar.  She's a little shy and really seems to prefer the outdoors so I had been leaving her outside because she seems comfortable there.  Well, this morning we woke up to 3 gunshots (VERY CLOSE TO MY HOUSE) so I grabbed my gun and ran out the front door to see what was going on.  Nothing was wrong in my yard; however, Sugar was desperately trying to find a way out of my fence.  She was panicked.  🙁  I got her attention and she ran over to me so I went back in the house and opened the door and she came in.  She's been inside all day and seems to have zero interest in going back out.

She quivers and whines at even a small thunder storm so I don't think the gun shots were good for her.  I am pretty relieved to have her inside, though.  I just hate having dogs out.  I trust no one.

Turns out it was just a neighbor checking out his new gun, but considering the fact that I could throw a rock and hit his house - I didn't appreciate it.  I am hoping that he doesn't pull that crap again, but if he does I will just call the cops.  I haven't checked, but it has to be illegal to shoot off a gun in a non-emergency situation in a residential neighborhood.  That is extremely unsafe.  🙁

Genius words from Laurel:

Genius words from Laurel, on me doubting my new baby's ability to eat a rat:

"Snake mouths are like vaginas. You're looking at a rat (penis) and you're like "there's no way - I just fought with a super tampon." And then what do you know, a couple taps and it's in."

She was right.  And he is totally done with his rat despite the fact that I was THISCLOSE to taking it away.  😂😂😂
