Orange is resting and warming up.  STILL.  Because I just found out that my handy-dandy heating pad that doesn't shut off (one of the OLD SCHOOL kinds) isn't warming.  Made a rice mama for him to cuddle.  He's in there fussing.  I'm gonna see if he's warm enough to eat.  🙂

I just got 7 maggots out of Orange's genital area.  We are both soaking wet with saline, but we made progress.  I used a saline flush, tweezers and cottons swabs to get the maggots once they started coming out.  They weren't just rinsing off - once they came out, it looked at though they were looking for another entrance to go in.  Blegh.  🙁

He's currently resting and drying off, and I'm sitting here shaking, feeling so grossed out and worried.  What an evening.

On the bright side he seems to be a little fighter.  I know that couldn't have felt good, and he wasn't afraid to let me know it.  I hope that's a good sign.  I'm gonna Google kitten care real quick while he rests, and hope he will eat for me.  He wasn't that into it earlier, but maybe he worked up an appetite while fighting me.  ❤

Can anyone tell what is going on with this kitten's business? And how can I help him? I don't mind bringing him to see a vet in the morning, but is there anything I can do tonight? I have no idea what happened here. I did pull a bunch of larvae egg looking things off him, and my dad said he had ants on him when they found him. 🙁

Orange is the New Cat.

Very very new.  Was born yesterday, and mama won't take care of him.  🙁  He's the only one who has survived the night.

I picked a bunch of egg-looking things off him, and got him warm, and gave him some liquid and a tiny bit of milk.  He seems to be ok for now, except for a big open sore in the genital area.  I am concerned about that... it looks at though his pee hole is infected.  It's bloody and red and pulsating.  I really hate that I JUST NOW got him home because I barely missed AMC.  But I will get up and call Dr. Berry in the morning.  If they think he's ok, or could get him through a few days for me, I'd be comfortable taking over his feedings.  I've only ever nursed puppies.  Never really done a kitten before.

Anyone out there with experience want to help?  Or do you have any pointers?  I know to not feed cold, and to potty afterwards.

Weird day.

Weird day.  Got up and did animal stuff.  Thankfully that went ok.  My car almost didn't get us there, but then it did.  Phew.  Keep an eye on your oil, kids!

Came home, had some lunch with Shaun, then promptly passed out on the couch.  It's been ages since we napped together, but it's one of my favorite things.  ❤

Now it's late in the day and I'm energetic, but that's ok.  There are some things I've been meaning to do inside the house, so I think I will do them.  My hall in particular.  I'm kind of psyched to finish touching up the paint and put the trim back.  Meant to do that over vacation but then I just didn't.

I also did not photograph my new jewelry today, but I don't care.  I'll do it when I feel like it.  LOL  I did, however, have a nail idea I'm gonna do, so I'm pretty excited about that.

The only other thing that is noteworthy is that Aunt Flo showed up today - 9 days late.  I still wonder what the hold up was, but either way I'm happy to see her.  Am I the only female out there who enjoys this?  LOL

Vet trip today!

Took Nappy for her rabies shot so she can get her hair did on Monday.  Poor girl is so hot.  She's indoors, but that doesn't seem to matter.  She weighs 114 lbs now, so me and home girl need to get walking.  I just hate to make her walk because she needs another hip surgery.  But I'm sure it's good for her to do as long as we don't over-do it.

Also took Harley to the vet because he needed some things done.  It was time for shots and I needed to know his HIV status since he's integrated himself with my cats.  His tests were negative, thank goodness.  Except for worms.  He has worms and I suspected as much because he hasn't gained any weight since being here.  You can still see / feel his little hip bones.  🙁  But he was medicated for that, as well, so he should start gaining soon.  He goes back for a re-check and more shots in about 3 weeks.  Then I'll work on getting him neutered and he'll be ready for his forever home.  Which has not been decided is here, just FYI.  😃
