Bear is ok. We were maybe 15 feet away carrying some stuff. And we're watching him for any adverse effects. We have a great emergency vet if needed, but I don't think that will be necessary.

It's always something with him. 🤦🏻😂

We taught him to enter the pool on the splash pad so he'd have some space to play... But I guess he forgot. That looked really intentional, until it wasn't. 🙃

This is why our pool is always warm. We don't leave it open if we're not watching the animals. It doesn't get much time to cool down because the cover is closed most of the time.

So far, he's totally fine. He's already gone back in how we taught him. He's been zooming around, getting towel dried, and rubbing his damp self all over us. 😂

Happy Bear. 😊 Every time he gets the zoomies I feel so grateful that he can. I can't imagine how hard life would be for him to have so much energy and no physical outlet.

I think his favorite thing to do is splash around in the pool and then run around wetting us all up. 😂

I was sitting up talking to Kira and Shadow and Toebean decided it was time to wrestle Shadow as he stood there eating his food. 😂 I don't usually see Tobi play; he doesn't with the other cats and he's cuddly with me and Shaun. But I've seen him come for Shadow a few times and it's pretty funny. I guess they're buddies. 😂😊

This boy and his kicking. I was in the living room when he started kicking the box. He tried to pretend nothing was going on until I went to my office chair, then he immediately started kicking again. 😂 He's easily fooled. It's not like I wasn't still looking directly at him. 👀😂

We took this bad dog out to pick up our lunch and get pup cups. He "enjoyed" the ride as much as he usually does, but while we were waiting in the drive through for Shaun's coffee and their pup cups, it happened:  A couple of the employees came by with rolling trashcans, and he was ACTIVATED.

Thank goodness he was buckled in, because he would've been out of the window in a heartbeat.  He jumped out on us ONCE before, in the driveway while going very slow [for no reason we could discern], and he's never had the opportunity again. BEAST MODE in the car was ridiculous, but he did eventually calm down.

I guess that's just another reason to avoid off-leash dog parks. We haven't been back to one since Cub was attacked, and at this point with Bear being who he is, it's probably just better for everyone if we're able to keep control over them. I really think that Bear doesn't mean any harm to people since he goes for the ice dispenser and trash bins, but no one knows that in the moment when a crazy-looking creature is roaring wildly and rapidly in their direction, and he's definitely grabbed me before in the heat of the moment, so better safe than sorry.

Anyway. Now he's home doing "normal" Bear things, as you can see. 😂

Sometimes Shaun gotta do what he gotta do to entertain/exercise this dog. 😂

I think Bear has 3 modes:

1. Asleep
2. Mild, as seen here; he's just doing rounds around the house/yard and/or through the bushes, or playing with/following Shaun. He's not too high-energy. He's fetching a rolled or slowly-thrown ball or playing with toys or chewing something.
3. WILD, which is absolute BEAST MODE; "don't-know-what-he's-about-to-do, fuck-the-ice-dispenser, I'm crazy/I have the zoomies" mode.

We get a mix of all 3 throughout the day.

It's funny to me how much he will follow us, though. He ain't about to miss ANYTHING. 😂😂😂

I know some of y'all have been curious...

I know some of y'all have been curious about Bear and the ice dispenser, so here he is with cheese vs. no cheese.

We cheese him for several reasons:

• It's not safe for him to be so wild on the slippy floor, as seen by him almost falling
• He used to bite us in his excitement and he got better about that, but still, why risk it?
• It's obviously triggering to him for some reason and why rile him up if we don't have to?

He was definitely worse when we first got him - biting and body-checking, and trying to maul the fridge. I think that repeated exposure to the noise every day with cheese has lessened his reaction to a more playful vibe because I can obviously get ice now - it's just not worth doing without the cheese. 😂  We've been doing this for almost a year now - it's hard to believe we've had him for that long!

You can tell he's on alert the moment the fridge chimes when I change the dispenser from water to ice. Unfortunately, his wild response isn't limited to only the ice dispenser. He does this for basically any rumbling noise, including moving the trash and recycling bins weekly. We just manage him with treats and/or keeping him away from the noise (locking him in the house when we move the bins).

Edited to add:  Other long-lasting treats work IF HE'S INTERESTED. He'll grab his bones and run outside if he likes it. If not, you can see the struggle as he tries to contain himself for the treat.
