Scooter has been squinting...

Scooter has been squinting with one eye for days.  I thought maybe he just got poked in it or something.  I can't see anything in it, but it does look red around the edges.

He's being a super grump.  Arguing with all the other dogs.  Might just have to pack him up and take him with the cats tomorrow.

Said goodbye to my oldest possie today.

Said goodbye to my oldest possie today.  Rest in peace, my beautiful, bug-eyed Nelly Belly.

It's been a rough week.  Last weekend I noticed that she was having a hard time getting around.  She wasn't going back up her ramp to get in her bed.  So I knew this day was near.

We spent the week feeding her all the things that are so bad for her, but that she loved.  Her favorite:  Oreo's.  Grapes.  Yogurt with superworms.  Ham.

The last few days, things worsened.  She wasn't moving to use the bathroom or grooming herself.  She wouldn't eat last night (not even an Oreo) so I took her to my dad's today and he put her down for me.  No suffering for my sweet girl.

This is the first time I've had to make that decision, but I'm sure it won't be the last.  I do feel that it was the right thing to do.  In all honesty I am quite surprised that she lived and got around as well as she did, for as long as she did.  Opossums generally only live to be about 2 years old and and she would have been 2.5 in July.

Thanks to the ignorant staff and neglectful care she received at the Anniston Museum of Natural History this girl had advanced signs of Metabolic Bone Disease the day they gave her to me - at 5 months old.  It is a crippling bone disease that is completely preventable with a correct diet.  Opossums with this disease usually have shorter life spans and don't survive if released back into the wild.

Though the damage done was irreversible I corrected her diet and tried my best to give her a good life.  She had a comfy bed and got treats often.  I loved it when she came out and walked around and marked all the shoes she could find as her own.  It was less great when she went in the cat litter box for a treat.  😂  I hope she knows how much I learned from her.  She changed my life.  ❤

Though the weather was rainy and crappy today by the time we made it to Munford, a beautiful rainbow had appeared and the sun came out to kiss her goodbye.  I love you, Nelly Belly.  Time to go return you back to the Earth.  ❤❤❤

So a weird thing happened to me this morning.

So a weird thing happened to me this morning.  I woke myself up CRYING.  I have heard of people waking themselves up by snoring, but never crying.  I've had bad dreams and have woken up and THEN cried - just because I felt so sad.  But I guess I couldn't wait until I was awake this time.  That was the most bizarre feeling.  And I scared Emma.  She popped up so fast to check on me.  ❤

So that head-pressing thing I posted about?

So that head-pressing thing I posted about?  I've caught Snaga doing it twice since that post.  Vet Monday.

I guess Social Media is good for something.  I never would have thought something was wrong just from that.

I hope that my beautiful moon-eyed baby is ok.  ❤

Geez, y'all.

Geez, y'all.  My dogs must have had a party while I was gone, or either a freak-out from a pop-up summer storm.  Someone peed and pooped in the floor - which RARELY happens because my dogs are awesome.  Someone also tore down the "lock me" sign on the door... and it was up pretty high.  Someone ALSO got my shop vac off the table and emptied it all over the floor and it was ALSO up pretty high.  Someone also dumped out the dog food bin all over the floor.  ALL OVER THE FLOOR.  As long as I've lived here and had dogs that has never once happened.  My kids won't even eat out of it if I leave it open.  They are weird (and good!), but weird.

I have a feeling that something spooked Sugar and she went ape shit.  Poor baby.  I don't think she's figured out yet that she's safe here.  While she is mostly settled in and doing really well, some things just still get to her.

That's ok.  This is why the dogs have their own room.  😃

Shaun was grumpy today...

Shaun was grumpy today because his cats are bad and he didn't get enough sleep.  I think he's probably knocked out on the couch or something so I'm not gonna bother him.  I am gonna have pizza and cookies for dinner, and do my nails (definitely gotta shorten them), and maybe work on some more jewelry before heading to bed.  I guess it depends on how fast I get tired.

I finished watching Frasier last week so now I don't know what.  I started the Dick Van Dyke show.  Maybe I'll just stick with it.  🙂
