I come upstairs for any reason...

I come upstairs for any reason and he SCREAMS to be held.

I may not have a job, but I definitely have a boss. 😂

Look at this sweet boy smelling the blooms!

Look at this sweet boy smelling the blooms! He really loves checking on the plants with me. He comes into the greenhouse and gets his sniffs and picks at the leaves sometimes. He gives me kisses and goes on to do his rounds through the yard and house before coming back and seeing what else is new. He's just the best helper! ❤️

Best helper! 😍

I bought another Ponytail Palm. If it dies, I'm done. I won't be murdering another. It's so weird because it's in very organic soil and it's damp, which sounds like the opposite of what it needs. I haven't repotted it yet, but I will today. I bought a terracotta pot because I think the glazed ceramic pot I had my last one in wasn't letting the water dry fast enough.

My final victim.

The shade cloth seems to be making a big difference with the heat inside the greenhouse. It's still nice and bright in there, but a lot less warm. I hope my plants feel better.

Current setup

Here are a few pics of blooms today.

Also, I think I have a Gymnocalycium fruit!

I did my walking this morning.

I did my walking this morning. Yay for self-care.

I had my first therapy appointment in a while because of the insurance mess.

I guess I won. The therapist said I seemed well and since I didn't have anything that I needed to talk about, she suggested we meet on an as-needed basis. I'm good with that.

I actually do feel really good. Physically and mentally, things are going better than they have in a long time. I haven't had nightmares or migraines recently. I have some energy. No complaints at the moment! ❤️

We put up a shade cloth on the greenhouse today...

We put up a shade cloth on the greenhouse today because some of my plants were burning - like literally scorching. 😬

We keep the doors open in the day and have a fan running to move the hot air out, but it wasn't enough. One side of the greenhouse gets wayyy more direct sun all day, so I'm hoping that putting up the shade cloth will help with the extra heat and the light.

It's cloudy out today and we had a little storm pass through, so that's why the tone of the photos in the greenhouse look cooler today. The shade cloth can't be THAT effective. 😂

Also, my Ponytail Palm is dead. I unpotted it and thought the base was ok, but there was even rot where the green was coming from. I'm sad. 🙁

I was walking on the treadmill...

I was walking on the treadmill (yay for self-care!), holding Scar because he's a BRAT, and this cat plucked out my tragus earring AND ATE IT.

Thanks, buddy. I've had this pair of earrings in for like, 20 years. I hope I can find another pair as comfy.

The annoyed face of "Why did you put me down so suddenly?"

Shaun has been talking about grilling food...

Shaun has been talking about grilling food off and on for a while. I talked to him about our food situation recently because I have no interest in cooking, so I'm rarely going to make healthy food (for myself or anyone else). We all just kind of fend for ourselves around here, and when we're tired of that we eat out. We want to do better.

I especially have issues with eating because I don't eat much meat, but if I had to cook it, I wouldn't eat any at all. I have the same trouble with eggs. I get grossed out by handling those things uncooked and by the time I get it done, I can't stomach it. I tend to have cycles of "safe foods" that I eat repeatedly and then go a while not really wanting anything. It's not great.

Shaun is similar to me about meat, but not to my extreme. We're a damn mess. 😂

So, we got an inexpensive charcoal grill and tried it out today. Shaun grilled tofu and it came out really good. I thought it would be chewy, but it wasn't. He grilled corn, carrots, cauliflower, and sausage, too. I ate everything but the sausage, and it was all delicious. We made wayyy too much food, so if the kids don't want any we're going to be eating it for days.

I helped with prep for everything but the sausage (not pictured).  But I think it went well for our first time.

We're definitely planning to collaborate on dinner more often than not now. He's open to trying cooking some types of meat, too, so that's nice, because I already know I won't. And it's great that we now know we can always throw tofu on the grill if we want to. I can help with prep for the grill and make sides or whatever, but I just have a hard line with dead animals.

Shaun cooked everything to varying degrees of done to see what we prefer. So far, he prefers the tofu more cooked than I do, but that's ok. He can always leave his on the grill for longer.

I'm getting my eyes checked Wednesday...

I'm getting my eyes checked Wednesday at Wal-Mart. I spend too much time taking my glasses off to see. I'm a mess, and I'm getting mild headaches that I think are related.
