It is officially "help Blu make a big decision" time!
I think it's pretty common knowledge to anyone who pays attention that my house floods sometimes when it rains a whole hell of a lot. Not the whole house, just a room. But the water gets so high and heavy that it also pushes my fence down, which is bad with 6 + dogs needing to be contained at any given time. They are usually in the house, but that's wayyy too many dogs to walk. Much easier to just open the door and let the herd out.
SO... earlier this week, I learned that for $2700, I could probably fix my yard with some landscaping. It would at least direct water away from my house, which would be awesome.
However, I kind of had other plans for that money. Such as surgery on Nappy's other hip, paying back Shaun for emergency vet bills, taking care of that cancerous looking thing on my dad's face, trimming my trees so they stop smashing my fence and my car... You know. The usual. Either way I go, the things I would do would bring me some peace of mind and relief.
I would have NO PROBLEM doing the work on my yard instead of paying someone to do it, if I had that kind of equipment and know-how. But I don't, and I don't want to do a bad job and make the flooding worse for me, or cause it to damage my neighbor's place.
So the question is, put the house and flooding on hold for a year, or go for it? If I go for it, I'm putting on hold paying back money I didn't want to have to borrow, my dog's ailing hip, my dad's very likely cancerous face, and giving my tree limbs a free license to damage more of my stuff. Catch 22, folks.
For the record, below is my yard. That shit is stressful. By the time that much water goes behind my house, it's rushing like a small river, and also flooding into my garage. 🙁
