Home Sweet HomeAs you know, I closed on the house on Thursday (the 13th) and that was awesome. We didn't stay there that night because we had nothing we needed, but we were able to stay by the next day, which was Friday - Good Friday, to be exact. And come to think of it, that was, indeed, a good Friday for us all. 😊
Shadow had a field trip to the Birmingham Zoo (which he said he really enjoyed) and Nick and me were off work (with pay!!!) because of the holiday so that gave us an extra day to get a jump on moving. And, well, that's pretty much consumed us all for the last two weeks. Anyhoo, back to Friday. I bought Shadow a new bed frame... one of those with the drawers underneath and a bookcase for the headboard (it's one of those you have to put together / yay!). Before I go any farther I'd like to state for the record that for the first night or so me and Nick were planning for us all to camp out in the big room together because I thought Shadow might be nervous or scared in a new big place. Well, that was NOT what Shadow had in mind. He stayed up until 2 a.m. waiting for me to finish putting together his bed so he could sleep in his own room. He wasn't scared at all. 😀 I'm really glad he felt so at home there from the start... I have to admit, though - I did, too. 😁 Honestly, it just feels like the right thing happened at the right time and I like that (a LOT).
Before I move on to Easter I want to talk about Saturday. Saturday was pretty good, too. A lot of moving going on, (of course), but we took some time to relax. We went to Frontera (that Mexican restaurant right next to the apartment I'm moving out of) with Nick's parents and that was some awesome food. I've been right next to it for a year and a half and had never eaten there until the other day. Damn, I didn't know what I was missing. I wish I had - that would have been SOOO convenient. Anyway, sometime after that we watched King Kong and (of course) he dies at the end. It brought tears to my eyes (as many things do), and I was sad. Well, not as sad as Shadow, who burst into tears and out rightly sobbed... which in turn made me do the same. 😭 Nick just sat there awkwardly for a moment until I asked him to get us some tissue. I guess it was pretty funny, looking back. Now for...
Easter
Easter was easy and enjoyable. When I woke up that morning I panicked a little since I didn't know where Shadow's basket for egg hunting was. Since we were going to my mom's first, though, I decided not to worry about it because I was pretty sure she'd have an old one around somewhere - or at least she'd be able to help me rig up something. Fortunately, the Easter Bunny was on top of things. 😉When we got in the car that morning there was an Easter basket full of goodies in the passenger seat. As it turns out my boss and his wife (who I now live down the road from) had put it there for Shadow. 😀 That was really nice and Shadow got to use the basket that came directly from the Easter Bunny. 😉 He was pretty excited about that. After my mom's house we went to see some of Nick's family. They'd made an Easter basket for Shadow, too, and put some King Kong swimming trunks in there. He got to go swimming on Easter and that made his day. After that they cooked out and we ate and just hung out with the family. It was nice and relaxing (which we desperately needed after two whole days of moving non-stop).
The End?
Well, I can't think of anything too interesting that's happened other than that... we've been so insanely busy and quite honestly - I'm so sleepy that it's affecting me (in an "I can't remember what just happened" kind of way). Once we get all settled, though, I'll have to take pictures and invite people over; until then - I miss everyone and I hope all is well! LOVE!!! ❤😁
