Today I rescued this little friend from our "pool."

Today I rescued this little friend from our "pool." I say "pool" because it's honestly more like a disgusting death trap at the moment. It's half-filled and green and gross with dirt all in it and construction debris floating. It is... not appealing. It's probably gonna be a few more weeks before it's finished.

I went out earlier with Shaun to check on something and saw this little guy swimming for his life. Shaun said it was a worm, but I could tell by the way it moved that it was a very small snake. I fished him out and brought him in to see where he should be released. He ended up out back under the bushes so he could eat bugs and be happy. If Google is correct, he's a Tantilla nigriceps - a Plains black-headed snake. Harmless to humans. Cute. Tiny. It was so hard not to pet him.

I was really hoping for the pool cover today. Bear keeps trying to get in there and also keeps trying to fall into the trench where the cover box will be. I've also been worried about wildlife getting in and drowning. We need to get some of those wildlife ramps, but I doubt they'll be effective with the pool half-full. Maybe it would save critters from drowning, but I don't think it would help them get out just yet.

Anyway. Things are progressing, slowly but surely.

We've had a day.

We've had a day.

Shaun slept downstairs because Bear's been having diarrhea. Good thing he did because Bear needed out around 2 this morning. Shaun was barely awake and went back to his game room to sleep after letting Bear out (and back in). He woke up later this morning wet. Turns out that Toebean had snuck in his room and couldn't get out to get to the litter box, so peed on Shaun and his pillow. 😬

I can't say that my day has been great, either. I went to bed with a migraine last night. Took my meds, went to bed, and woke up with the dental crown I had put on yesterday loose in my mouth. So... Back to the dentist I went for the third day in a row.

Tuesday was cleaning and a check up. The dentist asked if I'd had trauma to my lower front teeth because I have some bone loss in one particular spot. He said it wasn't due to me not taking care of them. I can't recall being hit in the bottom front teeth anytime since I had my x-rays done last year, so I don't know what that's about. I'm pretty bummed. I don't want them to fall out.

The dentist also wanted to replace a 30-year-old crown, so I went back yesterday because he had an opening and got that started. Why wait? Then I went back this afternoon because my temporary crown came off. Fun times. I hope it sticks until my permanent crown comes in.

Anyway. I'm tired. Super ready for the weekend.

I was going to post this sleepyhead...

I was going to post this sleepyhead this morning when Bear distracted me. Look at this handsome baby!

I gotta trim his beak this weekend. He's gonna love that. 😂

This is a "volume down" situation...

This is a "volume down" situation unless you want to hear me laugh until I literally cry. 😂😂😂

I had just come in from feeding Tort Baby and I looked up to see this. Died on the spot. DECEASED.

Cubba this morning.

Cubba this morning.

So baby. 😂

That face.

Featuring Bear legs. 😂

How is this comfortable?!

I know it's controversial, but I drink milk.

I know it's controversial, but I drink milk. Whole Lactaid Milk.

I was in the mood for something sweet, but didn't want chocolate or strawberry sauce in there. Yes, I still do that sometimes. When I tell y'all I'm a big kid, I'm not playing. 😂

But today... just now... I put French Vanilla Creamer in my milk. It is DELICIOUS.

Am I a grown-up now? 😂😂😂

The yard situation is improving.

The yard situation is improving. A lot of the trenches were filled in today. Not all of them, but hopefully that'll be done tomorrow so the yard will finally not be dangerous for Bear. I'm so ready, despite how much I've enjoyed watching this dog get carried around. 😂

(I promise he is walking plenty. We let him walk as long as he's ONLY walking and not trying to jump or play. Sedatives are barely working anymore and he's got ENERGY.)

Cub, of course, enjoys himself no matter what. 😊❤️
