Itty seems to be enjoying his bath!

Itty seems to be enjoying his bath! He's not trying to get out - just chilling against the side. Why not? 🙂

I'm a mean old tort mommy, y'all.

I'm a mean old tort mommy, y'all. At least - that is what I think Tort Baby was telling me this morning with his grumpy face. 😂

Tort Baby had been out walking yesterday, (as he does every day), but instead of falling asleep on the couch he went behind the TV and crashed there. I MEANT to get him out and either put him in his house or in his favorite blanket, but I was exhausted and TOTALLY forgot. 😬 I mean - he was safe and apparently comfortable enough to sleep so it's not a big deal. But anyway.

I got up this morning and looked in his house and thought "Oh yeah. Behind the TV." So I get in the floor and I'm trying hard to reach him, but I can just barely touch him with my finger tip. SO, I tickle his cute little ass (literally, his butt end) until I hear him wake up and make the hiss sound that means he's pulled into his shell. So, knowing that I had woken him up I went away to make his breakfast.

When I came back into the room I was greeted by the cutest little grumpy tort face EVER. He had dragged himself out from behind the TV and was just sitting there, looking up at me half-asleep, like "WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS?!?" If only I'd had my camera with me! Maybe I will learn to keep it on me one of these days. 😂

Is it just me or does Itty Bitty look a little perkier this evening?

He spent all day outside in the sun and fresh air. Looks like his dirt dried out so I'm going to fix that right now. Shadow didn't have school today so he checked on him for me off and on and Itty was up walking and checking things out at least once when he went out there. So, that's much better than being lethargic. He still looks pitiful, but turtles are notorious for being slow at EVERYTHING - even healing so he's gonna take some time. But that's ok - I have patience. 🙂

I just stumbled into the realization...

I just stumbled into the realization that I could become a grandmother any time in my life now. My kid is a teenager and that could happen.

I'm like... Blown away. 😂 That's a weird thought.

That salad never stood a chance.

This kid is a ferocious eater. Stomping his salad with his feet... shaking it even. Gotta make sure it's not gonna get away, I suppose. 🙂

Itty bitty box turtle must have buried himself last night. I can't see him anywhere in his house.

Y'all... I got what was intended to be a foster tort today, but...

Y'all... I got what was intended to be a foster tort today, but after a few hours here I am pretty sure that he's not going anywhere. 😂 He's a red foot tortoise so he's already twice as large as Tort Baby - and he still has some growing to do.

He came from a home where he wasn't properly cared for so his shell is more pyramided than it should be and his beak is slightly over-grown, but he'll be ok. I hear that he is 4-5 years old - so he's still young. We've got plenty of time to get him all worked out.

He is not shy AT ALL. He's been climbing all over us and even seems friendly with Tort Baby and not really concerned with the dogs at all. He's been a hungry hippo this evening - after he tried to eat both my hair and the TV remote I decided that maybe I should make him a salad - even though he should be sleeping. 😂 He ate an entire plate of salad. I have video. And photos. I'll be posting those shortly. 🙂

He ate a lot of stems from his salad so that should help with his beak if he keeps that up. If not, worse case - I'll take my nail file to him. 😂

Anyway. Shadow was the first to say that he really liked him. He has taken salad from Shaun and even shook it ferociously like a dog. Wish I'd gotten that on video. 😂 Of course it doesn't take much to win me over so I'm in. He will eat basically the same thing as Tort Baby so that's not any harder. I will just need to make sure he gets some protein once in a while and that's not going to be hard. I think I have this under control. 🙂
