These are the nails I did after seeing a new layering technique on the 'Gram. The bottom layer is a sheer purple, then over that is a silver cat-eye magnetic, then it's topped with a chrome powder...

Sneaky peeky...

Shaun said...

Shaun said we needed to go to Lowe's. I thought we were looking at flooring. He thought we were looking for a table-top bird bath. We came home with plants. 😂😂😂

Back Left:  Sago Palm

Back Right:  Ponytail Palm

Middle:  a nice, toothy agave

To the right of the middle:  Golden Barrel Cactus

The other 3:  Too cute and plump to be left behind. Front left is blooming! ❤️

Shaun...

Shaun just hugged me goodnight with wet hands and I...

Those were fighting words, I swear. 😂😂😂

Me and Shaun...

Me and Shaun had planned to go see the Dresden Dolls at Meow Wolf Santa Fe tonight, but we're not going. I'm almost as excited about canceling our plans as I was about making them. 😂😂😂

I was up at 4 this morning because I hadn't seen Adrian since I got off work yesterday evening.  Normally, she comes to bother me while I brush my teeth before bed and she's very cuddly when we sleep, so that was pretty different. Logically I know that cats hide and do weird shit sometimes, but I woke up in the middle of the night searching for her because I was sure she was dead somehow.  My brain was GOING OFF. I was like "A snake ate her. She got outside when I wasn't looking and is coyote food. Something fell and squashed her."

So at 4 this morning I turned the lights on and started searching the room. Finally, I started climbing the ladder to my loft bed. It was then that she came to the edge of the loft bed with eyes squinting and a cringing face like "Why the fuck is the light on?  What's happening?" She looked SO disgruntled. 😂😂😂

Anyway, I didn't get much sleep after that and I've been tired all day. As for the concert, doors aren't until 10 pm and I'm like "That's crazy." I'm crashing out by 10 on a good day. 😂 Thankfully, the tickets weren't expensive and Shaun is happy to support the artists whether we go or not. I've seen Amanda Palmer live a few times, but never the Dresden Dolls together. And yes, I would like to, but also, that feels like effort and sensory overload and a sold-out show in a small venue with a virus still around. So I'm content to stay in tonight and be an old fogey with my best friend and my ani-pals. 😊❤️ I have a dentist appointment in the morning, anyway. 😂

I only need to look presentable...

I only need to look presentable from the waist up at my job. I work under a blanket from the waist down all day. Sometimes there is a cat. 😂😂😂

These babies aren't even in the ground

These babies aren't even in the ground, but they're budding and blooming. They are so gorgeous! ❤️

I never did anything else to these.

I never did anything else to these.

I just haven't been energetic lately, and that's probably because I'm not allowed to exercise. So this is what I'm wearing this week. No complaints.

I hope everyone has had a good weekend.

I hope everyone has had a good weekend.  I spent mine basically sat on the couch.  I'm trying really hard to take care of my ankle.  I have a brace and I've been wearing it a ton.  I feel so grounded.  My ankle feels a good bit better - especially with the brace, but I've been trying to stay off it so it will heal since I re-injured it before it was done healing already.  I miss skating.  I miss our morning walks.  I missed doing chores this weekend, but I worry that I'm at the age where there will be permanent damage if I don't take care of it right.  So here I continue to sit.

Shaun got a trial of some new streaming service so we could watch something he wanted to watch.  We watched whatever that was last weekend.  Oh, it was Everything Everywhere All at Once.  That was pretty good.  Then we started Yellowjackets.  We finished the last episode that was out today and I guess now I'm waiting for more.  That sucked me in super fast.  Shaun, not so much, but he liked it enough that he didn't want me to watch it without him.  That's pretty much all we did yesterday.

The only other thing I did this weekend was put that chrome on my nails.  Though I got some great suggestions I never did do an accent nail.  I didn't photograph them or share them anywhere else.  I had planned to do that today but ended up with a headache so I napped with the cats instead.

I definitely feel like I am sitting too much. I know it sounds crazy, but I feel like that's why I got a headache... But thankfully this is just temporary.  I will probably start doing more non-sitting activity this coming weekend, thank goodness.  But since I've been sitting here I've also been working on my database.  I'm like, halfway though the "collecting information" stage so that's really exciting.  I'm hoping I can have my database more or less done this year so that I can move forward with other projects (like my website and swatching my polish collection).  We'll see.  But I'm excited.

Anyway, I'm done rambling now.  I hope the week treats you well!  ❤

Work in progress.

Work in progress.

This is a holographic chrome powder over black. It's GORGEOUS on its own, but I would at least like an accent nail...

I'm supposed to be in Vegas for work right now...

I'm supposed to be in Vegas for work right now, but I re-rolled my ankle and couldn't drive as planned.  I am definitely missing out on a good time. 😕

Look at this sunset, though. The desert is getting some rain and it smells so sweet and the air is so cool.

Peep the pink on the mountain. I almost missed it. They're called the Sandia Mountains; Sandia is Spanish for "watermelon" which is the color they turn at sunset.

I just did something.

I just did something.

This is going to sound STUPID DRAMATIC, but I finally merged my nail art page with my polish jewelry page.  It was a long process because Facebook wouldn't let me change the page names to match so I had to trick them and do it like, a word at a time.  I went from "Happy Nails" to "Polish All The Things" and it took MONTHS.

Then on top of that a lot of things had to match up on the pages.  A big deal was that one of the pages was "Classic" and the other was the "New Page Experience" and I kept trying to upgrade one but finally figured out that I had to downgrade the other.  They could have just SAID THAT SOMEWHERE, but anyway.  I got that done.

Then at long last, tonight, the actual merge happened.  The merge itself was fast once requested.  I'm glad it's done and over with.  It's something I debated on doing for years and once I finally made up my mind the whole everything was so scary and I had so many doubts and now that has disappeared BECAUSE IT IS DONE.

Anyway, I am finally starting to feel like I have the time and creative energy to do nail art again.  Hopefully I can get back on my jewelry bullshit, too.  I've even thought about creating decorative press-on sets to sell.  I see a ton of them on Etsy and it honestly looks fun to make them, so I'm considering trying it.  I don't know.  I don't have to jump into the deep end right off, but you never know - I just might!

Another one of my cactus plants has bloomed. ❤️

Another one of my cactus plants has bloomed. ❤️

Haha.

Haha. I had to do it again. 😂😂😂 I need to stop stalking this poor plant.

Sunday...

Sunday, Shaun did some yard work and I vacuumed inside the house. I don't know if he brought dust / dander / pollen back in with him or if I kicked it up by cleaning, but I haven't stopped sneezing and snotting since. I took a COVID test to be sure it wasn't that and I'm all clear, thank goodness. But I am not having the most fun. 😂

It’s a Purple Robe Locust tree!

I don't know what kind of tree this is in our yard, but it's blooming beautifully and the bees love it. 💗

It's been such a long time since I've done any nail art for myself.

It's been such a long time since I've done any nail art for myself.

As lame as it may sound my one and only goal for this weekend was to do nail art on ME. Before this the most I could manage was to put on a pretty color (there is a reason for that). It's nice to have a pretty color to look at, but it's not the same a being able to flex my creativity....

I saw these in our neighborhood...

I saw these in our neighborhood and I want some for our yard. They are super cute even when they're not blooming. 😍

This is *probably* the last picture I'll post of this yucca. It was just so beautiful and fluffy this morning. 😊

Boyfriend picked out my nail polish.

Boyfriend picked out my nail polish. Now let's see if I still got my nail art skills.

Oh, Cub.

Oh, Cub. How are you goofy - even in your sleep? 😂

The flowers are open!

The flowers are open! The other bud is starting to bloom, as well. Wish I could get more close up, but I don't want to trespass and I'm not tall anyway. 😂

Paleta time!

Paleta time!

I got vanilla with Fruity Pebbles and fruit drizzled with white chocolate. Shaun's is coffee with Oreo crumbles and cheesecake bites drizzled with dark chocolate. Yum!

It bloomed!

It bloomed! And there's another bud coming up on the left.

The weather is gorgeous.

The weather is gorgeous. No heat or air conditioning needed - just open windows and a ceiling fan. Adrian loves to loaf in this basket. I kind of wish I could, too.
