Quick Update about the Lume Deodorant:

It's now been 3 days since I showered and applied it and legit - I do not smell gross (well, not in the armpits, anyways).  🤪  I had a PMS fever-sweat yesterday; one of those "I'm cold so I curled up in a blanket and fell asleep but now I'm awake and hot and sweating" type of deals and that didn't even phase it.  I've spent all day sniffing my pits and I'm just now catching a very slight sweaty smell.  I'm exhausted and feeling pretty "blah" so I'm about to shower and head to bed.  But yeah - color me impressed.  The difference between this and anything else I've tried is like night and day.

I don't know if y'all are seeing advertisements on here for Lume Deodorant, but I have been for months and I finally tried it.  I'm about to tell y'all about this stuff.

First, though - some background:

Either my armpits have been stinkier than average or most people are better at hiding it.  I know it doesn't help my case that I wear sleeves and hoodies year-round in this hot, humid weather (I have a sun allergy), but for the most part I'm indoors in air-conditioning and cold.  I don't think I sweat an unreasonable amount, but it's stinky to me and that makes me self-conscious.

I've used all kinds of deodorants and antiperspirants over the years - even trying some clinical strength ones.  Eventually with the strong stuff I started getting a rash and had to stop using them (not that they were stopping my funk, anyway).  So then I looked into "natural" alternatives.  I tried stuff like Lavilin and Primal Pit Paste and even that expensive Native stuff from Wal-Mart.  I never had luck with those, either.

Looking back I think that part of my problem was that my clothing was stained in the pits so that any dampness or sweat reactivated the stank.  Hopefully I am not exceptionally stinky, but between me and Shaun I am definitely the smellier one.  😂😂😂  I have recently learned that an enzymatic detergent will likely help that so my next personal project is to go through my shirts and properly clean them all.  Apparently just washing regularly when wearing aluminum or wax-based deodorants isn't always enough.  I don't know if that is common knowledge or not, but I somehow didn't know it.  Now I do.

So... I tried Lume Deodorant because supposedly it works differently than regular deodorants.  Their commercials can explain it better than I can so I'll leave it to you to look if you're interested.  But I will say that I showered and put it on 24 hours ago and I only smell half-bad.  That is a joke.  One of my armpits smells honestly just fine with a hint of the warm vanilla scent if you sniff up close.  The other armpit smells a bit like sweat, but not as strong as usual.  Maybe I put it on that one before my underarm was completely dry or maybe I didn't use enough - I don't know.  But I am impressed because I've never had a product keep me funk-free for this long.

One thing I will say is that it's a deodorant not an antiperspirant so if you're not ok with sweating then this is not for you.  I don't mind sweating; I just don't want to smell bad.  Another thing worth mentioning is that this stuff does NOT smell pleasant straight out of the tube.  It smells to me a bit like burnt plastic and feet, but I don't smell it unless I raise my arms.  That bad smell does fade as the deodorant dries (it has a lotion consistency), so if you can get past that then I think it's worth trying.  They advertise that one application can last for up to 72 hours; I haven't tested that because I just got these yesterday and I washed and reapplied right before making this post.  I didn't want to sit around with one semi-stinky armpit.  😂😂😂

Anyway, I wanted to share this with you all because I am feeling so happy and un-self-conscious and I want all of my friends to be able to feel that way, too.  I hope you all are doing well!  ❤

Rambly post about my day:

I'm sitting here with a tort stuffed in my jacket. He's crashed out and I'm crashing out. I have been missing the kids since I've been getting up earlier. I feel like Santa Claus when I'm leaving them food and they are still asleep every morning. I might have to adjust some timers so they are more on my schedule.

I'm so tired so I'm heading to bed after this even though I've been planning to paint my nails for days. I guess I have to keep my priorities in order. Blegh.

Today was a long day. I had fun at class - but then I worked like 9 hours. Tomorrow I have work first and then I'll be in classes until 9 pm. So that will be another long day and Thursday will be the same. I also have an online class that I've barely looked at. It's only the first day of school and I already feel a little bit behind. 😕

More about school: I wasn't even the oldest person in my class. There was a guy in there who is 38 and he was doing the HVAC program or something like that. We had to stand up and introduce ourselves and the teacher said we had to say our name, where we went to high school, what our major was, and then it was optional to list any hobbies or interests. It was so funny - all of the younger students got up and mumbled the bare minimum and me and the other old dude elaborated a little bit.

I have a feeling that is because we're old and irrelevant - it's like "I don't give a shit - I'll talk!" 😂 I remember feeling self-conscious a lot in high school, but I guess at my age I'm over it. And thank goodness for that - it was no fun! But anyway - about the other dude: He likes motorcycles and has 5 kids. I can't remember his name, though. Also, I'm the only Computer Science major I've met so far.

Oh, I finally got my Primal Pit Paste today. I scrubbed my armpits and put some on when I got home and I gotta say: This is the first time in a very long time that I can recall my armpits not itching. Even when I went without deodorant (for the last few weeks - sorry if I'm gross, but I'm not gonna make myself miserable), I was itchy - just not as bad as I was WITH deodorant. I don't know why that is. But anyway. I'm using the light strength Vanilla Almond, although it wasn't my favorite smelling one and I hoped it would be. I also have the Lemonade flavor and the Primal Spice, both of which smell really nice. I kind of want to lick the Lemonade one, but I will try to refrain. They make an Orange Creamsicle that I couldn't even bring myself to buy. I really don't need to start eating deodorant at my age. 😂

Anyway, I guess I'm gonna get up from here and put my sweet sweet Tort Baby in a blanket and tuck him in. I can't even tell you how much I've considered just putting him in the bed with me and snuggling him all night. I haven't because I don't want him to fall off my bed. It might not be a big deal if it was a regular bed, but it's a loft so that's a pretty big distance for such a little guy. I just need to make a little tort gate for my ladder and we'd be set. LOL

I am not opposed to using chemicals, BUT, regular deodorants have been making my pits itch for a while now and that is just miserable.  So, I'm trying something different now.  Again.  I tried Lavilin cream before, but that wasn't all it was cracked up to be.

I remember reading about these a while back and wanting to try them, but I think I was a good bit more broke then.  I just decided to place an order and found that they have a coupon code on their page that expires today.  So, I just placed an order for a few trial-sized deodorant creams.  There is one that even smells like chai.  😳  I am so excited.  😃

🙁  It's not bad enough that we are supposed to paint our faces daily, color our hair monthly, remove any hair that isn't considered to be in the right place, and even get plastic surgeries to be beautiful?  I knew that you could get cooch surgeries, but still.  Now we're supposed to bleach them, too?

I am one naked-faced, sometimes bald-headed (but excitedly graying when I'm not), otherwise hairy uthamucka with a some not-quite symmetrical pieces that no one's gonna fix.  And I like me that way.  I don't see why that is so bad.  I would never WANT another person to feel like their uniqueness is a bad thing.  🙁

Ok, so check this out.  I quit wearing deodorant because it was making my armpits hurt.  Over the last few years I've tried a LOT of different deodorants.  Most of them just did not work and left me funky rather fast.  So I started using the Dove Clinical Strength stuff.  And while that stuff worked it made my armpits ACHE and sometimes get lumpy.  Not cool, dude.

So I bought this stuff from Amazon called Lavilin.  It's in a cute little pot, and it's got a stick, and you just shower at night, put a little bit on, then go to bed.  SUPPOSEDLY, you'll be good for 3-7 days (even if you shower or swim or whatever).  It's not tested on animals (Woohoo!), and is alcohol and aluminum free.  It's not an antiperspirant, which is fine by me.

You have to go a few days with nothing on your armpits before using this stuff, which I did.  [Sorry to anyone who had to be near me!  (Shaun)]  This time yesterday I smelled AWFUL.  😂😂😂  But I put it on for the first time last night and so far, so good.  For the record I was hot today.  I haven't been feeling well so I've been getting chills, so I had on a fairly thick jacket for most of the day - even though it was warm out.

I'm wondering if I'll be good for 7 days or not.  That would be awesome.  But summer is upon us so that'll be a good test.  Has anyone else ever tried Lavilin or heard about it?  It was pretty highly reviewed.

The only time I'm ok with it is when I pull it up.  But it only fits into piggy tails.  Which is ok because I like those.

But if it's down I hate it.  HATE IT.  It's either too long or too short.  I can't decide which.

Today has mostly sucked.

Today has mostly sucked.  I've been headache-y and in a bad mood and tired.  But, there were a few highlights:

I gave mom her birthday present today (which is WAY late, btw).  However, she said it was worth it, because I gave her some fancy scissors.  She had a pair when I was a kid, but they were stolen.  She's wanted them back ever since, but since I couldn't give them to her, I tried to find the same thing.  And I SO nailed it.  😃

I went to Wal-Mart for deodorant and paper towels.  My paper towels had a $2 coupon stuck on them (Woohoo!), and I could buy one deodorant for $11, or two for $13.  I get the expensive shit, btw, because I can create a funk.  LOL  So now I have two.  Maybe I won't have a repeat of today anytime soon.  I was out of deodorant when I got up this morning.  I'd like to apologize to anyone who was near me at any point today.  LOL

Teyla update:  Home girl is not feeling great.  I think she's fine, but I'm pretty sure that having her leg taped to her tail is really uncomfortable and upsetting.  She's usually got a huge appetite, but since her leg has been taped back, she won't eat unless her food lands right in front of her.  Also, I'm having to give her more worms than crickets because they don't get away so fast.  Add to that the fact that she's shedding.  🙁  One more week with her leg taped down, and maybe she can be finished being taped at all.  I hope.  I know she would love to have a real bath!

And finally... I ordered more stamping plates today.  I found some with MONSTERS.  @_@  I am SO EXCITED!  And they should be here before Halloween!  😃 😃 😃
