I miss this child SO MUCH.
I miss this child SO MUCH. But my heart was happy to see her face in a memory this morning. A few short months ago, this photo would have had me bawling still. I'm grateful for the healing.

Appreciating some of my fuzzy plants today. 😊
Appreciating some of my fuzzy plants today. 😊

One of my favorites. This little one came from Home Depot a while back. It was damaged, but is recovering nicely. 🙂 |

I love this. It is a Kalanchoe Fang. He's bumpy and fuzzy and it's so great. 😍 |

This is a new plant. This isn't fuzz exactly, but I dig the texture. |

Poor plant that I sunburned. 😢 It's recovering, thank goodness. |

Echeveria Doris Taylor. Her name cracks me up because it's a people name. |

Fuzzy and gaining color. |

Fuzzy and will be dropping the last damaged leaves soon, I hope. |

I feel like an imposter when people say that I'm good at Math because THE STRUGGLE IS REAL. I have shed tears over Math. 😂😂😂

Beautiful echeveria blooms today.
Beautiful echeveria blooms today. These photos are not edited aside from cropping. 😍
I got a 5-tiered shelf for my plants today, so I've been putting it together and rearranging. Unfortunately, I'm not done yet. It's been a bit frustrating, if I'm honest. I've knocked so many over and had to repot them. A few were damaged minimally. It's too crowded in here, but if you asked me to give up a single plant I couldn't choose one that I like the least.
I am planning to sell maybe 15 pots of my Texas Nipple Cactus, though. When I transplanted it, I'd hoped to keep it all in one pot, but if anyone remembers that fiasco you know it did NOT happen. 😕 But that would help with space a lot and I would still have plenty left for myself.
Anyway, I guess I'm gonna get back to it. 😝 Enjoy my blooms! 🌸
My sweet Shitty Kitty (Midna), Teyla, and Teal'c.
My sweet Shitty Kitty (Midna), Teyla, and Teal'c. Only Teyla remains.
Teal'c was diagnosed as "failure to thrive" by the vet. I hand-fed him slurries and tried everything to get that baby to grow. He just couldn't.
Midna was the sweetest thing. She was friends with everyone who lived with us. She was our puppy-cat. She chose us one morning around 2 am and it didn't take long for us to choose her back and make her an official part of the family.
We have lost a lot over the years. I guess that is life when the family you choose has shorter life spans than you. But we've also loved a lot. Thankfully, the pain of losing them fades and we get to keep memories like this that make our hearts swell. 💗

JSU friends:
JSU friends: I know we've been told for ~the last 3 semesters that we'll be switching from Blackboard to Canvas, but it looks like it's actually happening this time. I didn't get an email or anything. I'm just one of those weirdos who logs into Blackboard mid-summer for no apparent reason. 😂😂😂

I started playing Wordscapes a few weeks ago.
I started playing Wordscapes a few weeks ago. Combinatorics followed me because this is how I think about it:
If I have 6 unique letters, there are 6! = 720 ways to arrange those 6 letters. If I have 6 letters with some repetition, such as in the word "banana" then there are 6!/3!*2!*1! = 120 ways to arrange those letters. That's because there is no difference between "a" and "a" and "a", so we clip them by dividing 3! out of 6!, etc. for all repeated letters.
I was also pretty stunned to see that the word "Echelon" was one of the words on the board. I've only ever heard that in the context of a math class (Row Echelon form from Linear Algebra), so it's weird to me they would expect someone to figure that out. Most of the words were pretty common.
Anyway, I'm a nerd. 😂🤓

Today, Rose got her rabies shot and her spay scheduled. After that, we took the kids to the park. I don't know about them, but I'm tired!

I don't know why this photo is so dark, but I thought it was a really pretty picture of Rose. |

Went to feed the animals and...
Went to feed the animals. Found Nom and Teyla (tortoise and bearded dragon) chilling together. Nom bulldozed a hole in Teyla's enclosure and set her free. I, uh... don't even know what I'm going to do about that. It's the animal room so it should be safe for them. Maybe it's ok? I'm glad I'm not in school yet so that I can observe. 😂 Goofy kids. I love my babies. 😍
I'll get a photo soon. Not until I clean, though. Nom has been rampaging. 😂😂😂 Gotta love life with a tortoise.

Me, Shaun, Shadow, and Kira went to the aquarium...
Me, Shaun, Shadow, and Kira went to the aquarium in Atlanta today. It was a good time. We all got to touch these guys. 😊
Well, it was mostly a good time. I'm hormonal and at the sea lion show they talked about how one of their sea lions was a rescue and about pollution. I was the only person in there crying. A grown-ass woman straight bawling at a sea lion show - big tears, snotty face, the whole 9 yards. I just had all the feelings, man. 😂😂😂 It was a good show, but I couldn't help myself! I love Shaun and the kids for just rolling with my weirdness. 😂😍😍😍

This isn't nail art, but I'm proud of it anyway.

This isn't nail art, but I'm proud of it anyway. One of these nails is a reconstruction. As most everyone knows I struggle with psoriatic disease. Sometimes it attacks my bones. Since I was 13 or so, it has attacked my skin. Over the last couple of years I've had 2 fingernails affected.
I think it's pretty obvious which nail is fake (the pointer finger), but I feel that at a glance it's not noticeable. I know it's not perfect, but I'm not upset. This was my first attempt at sculpting with hard gel. Also, more importantly - having this protection over my damaged nail is a lot more comfortable and is preventing additional damage from snags.
Wearing Light of Lyra by Tonic. Picture of the nail damage below the next paragraph (it's not gory, but just FYI in case you are bothered by that).
This is the reconstructed nail without polish. As you can see, my actual nail is trimmed short and then cut away almost down to the cuticle where it had lifted away from the nail plate. Believe it or not, it was really sore before I cut away all of the un-attached nail. Since psoriasis makes cells reproduce too fast, there was pressure and buildup under the nail. Removing it didn't hurt at all and made it feel a lot better, but left it vulnerable to snags and I was constantly messing with it. Now it is protected.
Since the gel is clear I can remove the polish to check on how my nail is doing. If the pressure from the psoriasis returns I can easily remove the gel, clean my nail plate, and replace it. Added bonus is that I can make it look super similar to my other nails while I wait for it grow out. 😊

Plant Pics!
Two weird little blooms are forming on this weird little plant. I love it so much! ❤️
Pretty pink echeveria blooms. 🌸
Shaun and our tortoise son, Nom.
Shaun and our tortoise son, Nom. Nom is so funny. He loves to be held and petted and talked to.
Pardon the hallway. I'm not finished painting. And all of that laundry is what Shaun washed recently. It's all on our to-do list.

Shaun has been off work for a few days.
Shaun has been off work for a few days. He's cleaned the den, rearranged in the den and my living room, decided the towels smelled funky and washed them all with bleach (they smell like fancy hotel towels and I love it), washed the couch covers, and I think he's vacuuming right now (I'm not sure - I'm still laying in my bed like a lazy lump [I know it's almost 3 pm but DO NOT JUDGE ME, I'M ON VACATION 😂😂😂]). He did most of this stuff while I sat in my room alone, photographing and cataloging my plants. I'm pretty much done with my project. Maybe if he's done with his cleaning rampage, we can spend the rest of his off days chilling together.
Sorry, y'all, I won at husbands. He's the best one and I can't be convinced otherwise. ❤️
I feel like this seller spoils me!
I feel like this seller spoils me! One of my favorites, for sure! And the selection is wonderful! 💚💚💚

I'm eating a slice of Swiss cheese...
I'm eating a slice of Swiss cheese because I'm hungry and sleepy at the same time. I can't decide if I like it or not, but I might eat another one.
I've been working for 2 days straight on plant stuff. I take the plants down, groom them, water them, debug them if I didn't before, repot them if needed, then take a "professional" headshot of them on a neutral background with them looking their best. I do this on my phone, then crop the photo. After I do a section of plants and put them away I use my spreadsheet to try to identify them as I upload them to the GardenTags app. I'm ALMOST halfway through - with 106 plants uploaded. 😂😂😂😭😭😭
I think I can do the rest tomorrow. They are mostly cacti and don't need anything in the way of grooming, and probably don't need water yet, either. We shall see.
Gotta say, I've really enjoyed my couple of days of uninterrupted plant-messing. I'm definitely doing a number on my hands right now, but once I'm done I'll chill out and give myself a proper manicure. 🙂
Well, I think it's time for more cheese, and sleep. Goodnight! (Or morning! Whatever. 😜)

OhMyGOSH y'all.
OhMyGOSH y'all. I'm photographing my plants (who all live indoors, mostly in my BEDROOM) and I picked up a pot and there was a centipede under one. 😳 I am not grossed out or scared of bugs, but I got goosies - probably purely from the shock of finding him there. He looked so neat with his little butt pinchers.
In other news: If anyone wants to see what all plants I have by name I'm currently cataloging them in the GardenTags app and my user name there is "fairlyoddblu". I think this will be a quick and easy way to know what I've got. Spreadsheets / databases are fun, but unwieldy on mobile devices. 🙂

That feeling when...
That feeling when you're holding a kitty paw and kitty grabs your finger so you immediately turn to your husbang and say "I'm sorry; it's over. I'm with Bastian now." 😂😂😂
Blooms! 🌸🌼🌺
