Shaun walked over here...

Shaun walked over here and we were going to walk to Wal-Mart, but holy cow... I am too sore to walk that and he's got a blister forming on his foot.  So, we tried things out in my car.  Probably wouldn't have done that if Wal-Mart wasn't so close to me (less than a mile... probably more like half a mile)... but we needed food.  So.  Off we went.

There are still some icy patches out so I wouldn't recommend being out unless you really need to be.  OBVIOUSLY - stay away from hills.  I ended up taking Shaun home so he wouldn't have to walk and there were literally about 7 cars in ditches on Arrow Avenue at the hill.  That is crazy.

When we were walking home from the high school yesterday cars were sliding down that little hill near the school.  Literally all of them did it and I thought that some of them weren't going to stop until they smashed into the car below them.  Thankfully I didn't see an accident there, but we didn't hang out and watch.

Anyway, that's all I know.  I don't see everything being drive-able by tomorrow, but I sure would like to go back to work!

I am seriously having a hard time walking. It hurts so bad.

I am seriously having a hard time walking. It hurts so bad. 🙁

I haven't done much since we got home. I am sore like whoa. Thankfully, I am finally warmed up, at least.

I have let the dogs out a few times and I keep seeing like... big military vehicles going up my street. Is that happening everywhere? Are they just out helping people, or making sure that no one is out, or what?

We just got home from work. We left at 11:30 am.

We just got home from work.  We left at 11:30 am.  😳

The roads were so bad that it took us an hour to make it two miles in the car.  People were scared to move because they were sliding everywhere.  It was awful.

So... we decided to walk home.  Shaun left his car at Ruby Tuesday at around 12:30 so that is when our journey on foot began.

We stopped at Saks High School to get Shadow then headed home.  All in all me and Shaun walked a little over 7 miles today.  Shadow walked the last 1.5 miles with us.

I am tired.  I am sore.  My face is chapped.  My leg benders ache.  And now I'm getting cold.  Blegh.

I didn't hate it, though.  I didn't like when the snow was blowing right at my face, but there was nothing to do about it.  We stopped and pushed a few people who couldn't get up hills and one lady drove us like, 10 feet up a hill, but ohmygosh, I APPRECIATED THAT.

It was nice, at least, to see everyone stopping and helping each other.  There were a lot of folks out helping - pulling, pushing, either with just themselves or their cars.  But the way the cars were sliding and losing control I did feel much safer on foot.  I do not regret just getting out and walking today.

I did great all day - didn't fall or anything until AFTER we got Shadow.  By that point I was so exhausted and sore that I wasn't very nimble on my feet.  I busted my ass TWICE on the last 1.5 miles.  I am going to be sore as a mofo tomorrow.  😳

Now I'm heading to my couch.  I plan to not move anytime soon so if you need me that's where I'll be.  ❤

The school has called twice...

The school has called twice to say that they're letting out early today and starting late tomorrow. I went to let the dogs out and saw that it was snowing. So that explains it. 😝

I am so tired and I feel kinda crappy.

I am so tired and I feel kinda crappy. Nothing too bad, but I'm coughing sometimes and my throat is kind of itchy and I bit the side of my tongue wayyy in the back - so that hurts.

I think I'm mostly getting over my drug binge this past week. I drank coffee every morning with breakfast last week. Just half a cup a day and it was good. I was hooked by the weekend, though. I decided to have some coffee on Saturday and then promptly barfed it back up. I guess I should have eaten.

Actually, I shouldn't have been drinking coffee so I quit. I'm probably just gonna feel crappy for a few days. That's what I get!

The Chupacabra...

The Chupacabra is wedged between my back and the back of my chair.  She seems quite comfy.  It's not so bad for me, either.

See Laurel - I told you should wouldn't be a lap dog!  😛

I don't understand...

I don't understand how I should be photographing a flakie nail polish to make the colors show.  I look at my nails, and they are colorful and pretty... and I take a picture of them, and they don't look like what I see.  Am I crazy?

I am not a photography person, but I would assume that since all the nail blogs can swatch them and show the colors, that it is not rocket science, right?

Y'all remember my Chupacabra?

ADOPTED 04/13/14 - Y'all remember this little girl?  My Chupacabra?

Well, she's back.  She wasn't a great fit for her last home and sometimes that just happens.  So I'm looking for a new place for her to go.  It is really hard for me to not keep her myself - I just love her little butt - but I have 6.5 dogs already and my plan was never to keep her - just to help her out.  If you don't remember:  I found her at an abandoned house on my street.  She was hungry and scared and had an unknown black substance on her.  That was just not ok.

She is up to date on shots, but does need to be spayed.  She is in heat right now so I'm waiting until that is done before I make her an appointment because I don't want there to be any complications.  I am keeping her under lock and key so she will not be getting pregnant.

She's a sweetheart.  A little lap dog.  Seems to prefer cats to dogs.  If you have cats that will play with her and snuggle with her she will be happy.  She will bark at cats that don't like her.

She has a crate, some puppy pads, a bed, some food, and a boat-load of toys.

She's doing great with her house training.  She has not had any accidents in her crate.  She will use a puppy pad if one is available, but sometimes she misses.  I think it is better to take her outside as soon as she comes out of her crate.

Please contact me if you are interested in giving Chupa a home.  Please share.

She will only go to a home that will keep her indoors, (and preferably one with a fence).  Photos and updates are part of the deal so it is mandatory that where ever she goes her adopter keep in touch.  Not all the time, but I have a soft spot for this one so I need to know she's ok.  ❤

Holy shit...

Holy shit, my nails are awesome right now. 😳

Went to Sally's today...

Went to Sally's today to check out the new China Glaze Crinkle Chromes. While the idea was neat I was not impressed with the product. It is basically metallic polish with the fuzz coat and texture polish bits mixed in. If you have either of those kinds of polishes plus a favorite metallic you could easily get that look by layering your polishes without needing to buy anything else.

I tried the lavender one out on my thumb. I'm not a huge fan of the way it looks, either. I don't think I'll be buying any of those.

As backwards as it sounds - I love it when polish collections fail to wow me. It just means I won't be lusting after them or spending my money. I feel like I've won. LOL

My bed is so comfy and warm, but it just makes me sad.

My bed is so comfy and warm, but it just makes me sad. I am here thinking about all of the animals that are out in this cold with nowhere warm to go. All the chained dogs with only a wooden box over them, if that. I wish I could fix all of the problems. I will never be truly happy as long as my brothers and sisters suffer.

That is ok. I shouldn't be.

I do think I'll make some insulated boxes and put around my house, though. Just in case someone needs to sleep there. ❤

I had a great weekend seeing my best friends, Laurel and Emily.

I had a great weekend seeing my best friends, Laurel and Emily.  I SO wish we all lived closer together!  ❤

Laurel didn't stay the night, but it was good to see her and meet her dude.  You two are a great couple, for real.  Laurel - just let him help you blow your nose next time.  You can't be messing up your nails before I'm even done with them!  😛

Emily and her guy, Rex, just left.  We stayed up watching Netflix and doing nails and talking.  That is my kind of party.  LOL  Y'all have a safe trip home!  ❤

This girl is heading back to bed.  My brain is telling me that I owe it some sleep from this past week.  LOL  I am planning to take it easy today.  Maybe I'll even do my own nails.  It's been a few weeks.  I had kind of lost my mojo, but my ladies brought it back!  😃

Y'all, we seriously have to do this again!  It was great having all 6 of us dorks together!  ❤

I don't think I've ever been so excited to wash my bed sheets and covers.

I don't think I've ever been so excited to wash my bed sheets and covers.  😂

Today Laurel came over and swapped me Chupa and Scar (Scar aka Basil) for Precious.  As much as I love that dear old cat I have found that I am not able to sleep comfortably with her in my bed now that her hair is growing in.  Her hair or her dander or something just makes my nose and throat itch like WHOA.  It is SO hard to sleep like that.

I have never been a huge fan of sleeping with animals - I share my whole house with them so I really, honestly, just want one room to myself.  I think that is reasonable.  But with Precious I didn't want to put her in with my other cats because the dogs go in that room and she doesn't have claws.  I just didn't feel safe with that.  Maybe the other cats would pick on her or the dogs would realize that she didn't have a defense.  I don't know.  They don't usually bother the cats, but I would rather be safe than sorry.

So... the last place I had to stash her was my room.  And at first she couldn't get on my bed.  And I had her shaved, too.  And all of that was ok.  But eventually her hair started growing in and she figured out how to get on my bed and good luck stopping a cat from doing something you don't want them to.  😖

As most of you probably remember a few months ago I gave Chupa and Basil to Laurel and I think that was ok at first.  But those two are SO high-energy and just going going going.  That is not the vibe at all at Laurel's place.  They ended up not being a good fit there and sometimes that just happens.  Laurel is totally an animal person, too, but that doesn't mean that any of us can work magic.  Also, Chupa was having potty issues.  So I told her that I'd take Chupa and Basil back.  That is always the deal with me.  When I adopt an animal out I need to know where they are and that it is good.  I feel like that is my responsibility.  They are my kids after all.  🙂

Since Laurel's house is totally laid back and she has older kitties too I asked if she'd take Precious for me.  She's more of a cat / lizard person, anyway.  I think she was sort of allergic to Chupa, as well.  I know I have heard her talk about itching and needing to wash the dog on more than one occasion.  😔

So as of a few hours ago things were going ok.  Precious has been out exploring.  Laurel's other kitties have hissed at her some, but that is to be expected.  They will work it out.  Also, Laurel has more lizard tanks than I do so Precious will LOVE THAT seeing as how her favorite place to hang out was right above Koopa's heating lamp.  Also, I can go and visit her and Laurel will send me photos so that is just great.  I think we will all be much happier with this arrangement.  🙂

On my end Basil has been playing with ADDC (who I still haven't officially introduced to the internet), and Chupa has just been hanging out.  She's on her period so I feel bad for her.  I will get her spayed as soon as she's done with that business.  She's also doing well with being in the house - no accidents so far.  🙂  Truth be told I've kind of missed those two clowns.  I will be looking for Chusil a home together (a dog AND a cat - I know - tough sell), but if I can't find one I'm not gonna sweat it right now.  What's important is that I've got my bed back, bitches!  😃

Here's to compatibility!  It is SUCH a big deal!  ❤

HOLY SHIT.

HOLY SHIT.  That little book has one page of writing and it is dated 1972.  😳

That just made my night!  BURIED TREASURE IN MY HOUSE!

Attic Adventure Land

This has probably been the most interesting Friday night I have ever had.  I went on an adventure!

So... there are some things around my house that have been bugging me, BAD.  For one when I bought this house it had all fluorescent lights and that was fine.  But over time the ballasts started going bad so my house has just gotten darker and darker.  I REALLY wanted to switch to some other kind of fixtures, (ones that I could use LED bulbs in), but with the placement and stuff I just don't see it happening.  Not without re-wiring a bunch of stuff and having a bunch of gnarly holes in the ceiling.  So I ended up deciding to get a couple of new fluorescent fixtures.  I need to replace a lot more than two, but this will just have to be an on-going project I guess.

Shaun grew up doing wiring so switching out those fixtures wasn't really a problem.  They probably took 10 or 15 minutes each.  But then we came to the second thing on my list that was really bugging me:  my poop fan died.  🙁  It died probably a year or more ago, but having the money to fix things isn't easy so I let it ride.  But today I decided was the day I got a new poop fan.  😃

I bought a small cheapie fan that looked like it would fit where the old one was.  Shaun got up there and started taking the old one down, but it didn't take long for us to realize that one of us was gonna have to go in the attic.  I have never been in an attic before, but I wasn't afraid of going.  As it turns out he wouldn't have fit in the area where the fan needed to go, anyway.  So.  Up the ladder I went.

Turns out it was nothing like I dreamed it would be.  I have had recurring dreams of having another floor in the attic.  Like a second floor with rooms.  And fish tanks for whatever reason.  So yeah.  Nothing like that, but that's ok.

It was dark and there were cobwebs everywhere.  And rat poops.  And the smell of rat pee made me really miss all of my dearly departed rodents.  So I guess I have rats, but I don't mind.  As long as they don't eat my important stuff I guess we're cool.  They need somewhere to live, too.

So I get up there, creepy crawl into the cool darkness of the attic and make my way to the fan.  It took WAYYY too long to unscrew the old one.  Two of the screws were angled down and I just couldn't get my screwdriver in there to get them out like I needed to.  I have no idea how those got put in that way.

Finally, we got it undone then Shaun handed me up the new fan and it was TOO BIG.  By like a quarter of an inch.  😳  And there were beams on both sides so sawing those would have probably been a bad idea.  So I was like, "Can you just put the new motor in the old casing?"  And then he's all like, "Maybe.  I'll try."  So extremely long story a little shorter here he eventually does it and we get it installed and IT WORKS.  GO US!  😃  YAY POOP FAN!

The thing is that took a while.  So I spent like two very uncomfortable hours in the attic.  My nose and throat got all dusty.  I had to pee.  But I was too stubborn to just come out and then go back in.  LOL  So that's what I get.

While I was up there I found a souvenir.  I have no idea how it got there, but I found a little notebook calendar thing.  It is black with colorful zodiac signs on it.  At least that's what I thought was on it.  I only had a flashlight with me.  I'll go look at it after I clean up some.  Maybe I'll even post a photo of it.  LOL  Unfortunately, it was blank (as far as I could tell), but that's ok.  Still an interesting little find.  I will admit to hiding little treasures in my house when I'm doing work on it for someone else to find - hopefully many years from now.  Gotta make life interesting, right?

For the record we put a new light fixture in the bathroom and despite how much I cleaned it earlier this week it really doesn't look clean now.  Not only because of the fan mess, but holy shit it was so dim in there I couldn't see the dirt.  I am fighting urges to go and clean it now.  Unfortunately, I gotta get to Wal-Mart so the bathroom will just have to wait.

BOOSH!  That was my night.  I feel fucking accomplished.  😃

I've mopped myself into a corner...

I've mopped myself into a corner... so...  Here I am for a few.  😝

I have not been around social media much this week.  I've been really busy around the house.  Like, literally working from the time I get off work until I go to bed, (sometimes until some crazy hour like 4 am.)

I have friends coming in from out of town this week so of course I want the house to be clean.  Generally, my house is not gross... at least I don't think so.  I can't sleep when it's cluttered and nasty so there is just a certain level of neatness that has to be maintained around here.  But of course it can always be better.

Somewhere in the midst of me getting my house "company ready" it just stopped being enough for me.  So... I've been moving things around, organizing closets... hell, I even painted my hall.  I feel very motivated at the moment, and accomplished, and I like the way things are shaping up.  I have had a really keen eye for using the space I have over the last few days.  I might post a photo of my blanket closet.  😁  I completely impressed myself with how much stuff I fit in there.  Neatly, might I add - and I can get to everything in it pretty easily so that's a plus.  😃

I would say that I'm spring cleaning, but we're in the middle of winter, so... I don't really know what it is.  But I'm gonna go with it because I don't feel like this all time and a lot of shit is getting done.  Woohoo!  😃

Now my floor is dry so I'm off to mop the other half.  Catch you later, FB.

And yes.  Yes I will come and do your house.  If you pay me.  😛

I have been really annoyed with the weather...

I have been really annoyed with the weather for the past few weeks because even though it's been pretty chilly it's also been raining a lot - BUT MOSTLY ON THE WEEKENDS. And that has been driving me nuts because I can't ride my bike or do any yard work in the rain. 🙁

While I would have rather been bike riding I am excited that me and Shaun got to work in the yard this weekend. (And yes - he wore some gloves this time!) We FINALLY have most of the limbs burned from when my trees were trimmed LAST FEBRUARY. That was SO SO much wood! We've been working on that off and on all year. My mom, too. It was redonk. 😳

I also started cleaning out the little storage building. My brother might want it and if not I'll probably just disassemble it and scrap the metal. It's in the way so it's gotta go. I am planning to have my yard landscaped in a couple of months to deal with the flooding issues I've been having so I have been REALLY REALLY anxious to get my yard ready for that. I am sure that I have plenty of time but I don't like to put things off. It lingers in the back of my mind and makes me stressy. Better for me if I go ahead and just do it.

So I am pretty happy with the yard right now. You can pretty much walk anywhere without tripping over sticks or falling over logs. The only thing you have to dodge right now is dog crap. I can live with that for now. 😃

I guess it pays to let the cats run low on food.

I guess it pays to let the cats run low on food. When you finally put some out they ALL come. Even Beyonce!

She stood about 4 feet away from me and ate some treats that I tossed to her. She watched me pet the other cats, too. Then when I walked by her she ran out of my way, but not out of sight. She is curious and less frightened. Yay!

Shaun cornered and caught her about a week ago. He thought she just needed to be petted. She bit his knuckle - HARD. I was like, "That's what you get!" 😂 I think we'll do it her way. So very slow. But that's ok.

I have considered sleeping on the couch so that I'm in her space more. So she can smell me and get to know me while I'm sleeping. I just don't really want to. But I might.

Went to Tractor Supply for some cat food...

Went to Tractor Supply for some cat food... and the girl at the register complimented my nails.  I was like "Whattt?"  They are painted a plain nude color.  They literally look like nothing.  NOTHING.

I started doing something last night, but got tired so they are totally unfinished.  Maybe I'll have time to finish them tonight.

So...

Shadow is performing at the Legend's Ball tonight. He said that one of his friends was going to record it. He might let me see it, even. 😊

Holy cow.

We let Emma outside to use the bathroom and she came back in with an icicle in her beard!

I just finished going through my old blogs...

I just finished going through my old blogs (originally posted on MySpace) that I thankfully copied to Blogger a long time ago.  Since MySpace decided that our memories didn't matter and just got rid of everything some of my photos were missing on my Blogger copies because I didn't know better and just linked them from the 'Space.  But now they are updated and I feel, for whatever reason, much relieved.

I am toying with the idea of updating my rescue / rehab blog.  I have about 30 dog stories I could post, not to mention a few rehab stories from the short time that I was permitted.  I think I quit blogging when I stopped going to MySpace and went to Facebook instead.  Back then, you weren't allowed to write this much or Facebook would cut you off.  I HATED THAT with a flaming passion.  I like to write ALL THE WORDS!  LOL
